Dharamshala: The Government College Dharamshala's Department of Public Administration organized a Mock Parliament to celebrate International Democracy Day. The event featured Principal Prof. Rakesh Pathania as the chief guest, with Prof. Seema from Government College Nagrota Bagwan attending as a special guest.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Ajay Kumar, followed by a presentation from student Riya, who provided an engaging overview of the history and importance of International Democracy Day.
During the Mock Parliament, students took on the roles of ruling and opposition parties, engaging in lively discussions on critical topics such as disaster management, women's empowerment, education, and the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam. The ruling ministers adeptly addressed questions from the opposition, demonstrating their analytical prowess.
To add a cultural flair, students from Lahaul-Spiti showcased a traditional dance, which was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Prof. Pathania highlighted the significance of such initiatives in motivating youth to engage in nation-building efforts. Parinika was honored as the Best Speaker, while Tamanna, Manya, and Sanvi received accolades as Outstanding Speakers. The event was skillfully hosted by Nivriti.
